In the Raymo project, we developed a complete control and drive system for electric mowers, produced in thousands of units. Our tasks included controlling up to seven brushless motor controllers simultaneously, ensuring efficient operation of both the drive motors and the mowing device. We also established a control system where one controller acts as the Master, overseeing all other controllers and communicating with external peripherals via CAN, such as the battery and remote control. Notably, in the plug-in hybrid variant, we manage the generator, demonstrating the system’s versatility. Thanks to the custom firmware, there’s no need for a Vehicle Control Unit (VCU), as the controllers handle everything, significantly reducing the product’s cost. We used the 3kW brushless motor controller in this project.
